How to get to Montserrat from Barcelona
MONTSERRAT BY TRAIN FROM BARCELONA
One option, although not very comfortable is to arrive by train to the foot of the mountain of Montserrat, in the village of Monistrol de Montserrat. All trains to Montserrat leave from Plaza España in Barcelona. To reach the main observation platform of the mountain, you must choose between two options:
Montserrat cable car: an impressive 5-minute ride in a cable car. To take it, you must get off the Barcelona train at the Aeri de Montserrat stop.
Cremaller train: for which you will have to get off the Barcelona train at the Monistrol de Montserrat stop. From the station, you will have to walk a distance of 1.5 km to the Cremaller train. The trip will take about 15 minutes, in a comfortable and spectacular for the views, will take us to the sanctuary itself.
If you want to experience both the rack railway and the cable car, you can always buy a combined ticket.
MONTSERRAT BY CAR FROM BARCELONA
If we have a car, or we rent one for the occasion, we have a small route of 50 km, practically all by highway. Once we arrive at the village of Monistrol de Montserrat, we have 2 options:
- Take the rack railway: in the village itself, there is a public parking signposted, in the rack railway station itself.
- To arrive to the Sanctuary by car: in the Sanctuary itself we also have a parking lot for vehicles.
TRANSFER MONTSERRAT BARCELONA
Another economical option is to use a Private Transfer with pick up at your hotel and direct transfer to the Sanctuary of Montserrat. This same service can be combined with the Rack Railway Train, or the cable car, to enjoy a comfortable and spectacular tour of the mountain
