GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PRIVATE POBLET & MONTSERRAT TOUR FROM SALOU, CAMBRILS OR TARRAGONA ⇢
Departure from Salou or Tarragona early in the morning on a private tour designed for those who want to enjoy an exclusive and personalized experience in three key locations in Catalonia, combining history, culture, and unforgettable landscapes.
Our first stop will be the Poblet Monastery, an imposing Cistercian abbey founded in 1151 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This architectural complex, one of the largest and best-preserved in the world, still houses an active community of monks. During the visit, we will slowly and carefully explore the monastery’s most emblematic spaces: the abbey church, the resting place of several Kings of Aragon, the Gothic cloister, the chapter house, the 13th-century refectory, the library, and the monastic dormitory, considered one of the greatest jewels of European Cistercian art. An intimate and enriching journey through almost a thousand years of living history.
We continue with a comfortable transfer by private vehicle to Igualada, where a visit to the unique Leather Museum awaits us. Located in the modernist Cal Boyer building, a former factory from the late 19th century, this museum is part of the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia. We will discover how Igualada became one of the main centers of leather tanning in Europe, with an exhibition ranging from antique tools and machinery to a surprising collection of objects made of leather, such as medieval armor, gloves, footwear, and luxury goods. The visit combines historical, technical, and sensorial aspects in a dynamic and fascinating way.
In the afternoon, we head to Montserrat Mountain, one of the most symbolic places in Catalonia, both for its unique terrain and its profound spiritual significance. In this majestic setting, we will take a private tour of the Montserrat Monastery , founded in the 11th century and rebuilt after the Napoleonic invasion. Inside, we will explore the basilica and the chapel of Our Lady of Montserrat, known as “La Moreneta,” a deeply venerated 12th-century Romanesque figure. There will also be an opportunity to visit its museum, which houses works by artists such as Caravaggio, El Greco, Dalí, and Picasso. If time permits, we will visit a viewpoint for panoramic views of the mountain range and the Catalan valley. During this part of the tour, we also include free time for lunch surrounded by nature.
We’ll return to Salou or Tarragona in the afternoon, concluding a day filled with culture, art, spirituality, and comfort, in the tranquility of a private tour tailored to your needs.
