Its architectural gems include the Maison Carrée, a 1st-century AD Roman temple built in honour of the grandsons of Emperor Augustus. Its Corinthian-columned façade and impeccable preservation make it one of the best-preserved Roman temples in the world.

The majestic Roman amphitheatre, known as Les Arènes de Nîmes, is one of the most impressive structures in the city. Built in the 1st century AD, this amphitheatre could hold up to 24,000 spectators and is still in use today for cultural events, concerts and the region’s famous bullfights.

For a more relaxing experience, you can take a stroll through the beautiful Jardins de la Fontaine, one of the first public gardens in Europe. This green space is not only an ideal place to rest, but also houses Roman remains such as the Temple of Diana and the Magna Tower, an ancient fortification that was part of the city wall and offers stunning panoramic views.

Final Destination: Marseille, the heart of the French Mediterranean
