Park Güell was a residential complex designed by the architect Antoni Gaudi between 1900 and 1914. The complex was to have 60 houses, but when nobody came to buy the houses, the project was abandoned. After a few years, the authorities turned it into a Public Park. Park Güell:
Monumental Zone – The Monumental Zone of Park Güell has all of Gaudí’s work, and visitors must purchase tickets to enter. This section of Park Güell contains most of Antoni Gaudí’s work, which tourists come to see. The must-see attractions in this area are:

  • Guard Museum (Museu del Guarda)
  • Sala Hipóstila (Sala Hipòstila)
  • Gardens of Austria (Jardins d’Àustria)
  • Pórtico del Lavadero (Pòrtic de la Bugadera)

How to get to Park Güell

Park Güell is located next to Carrer d’Olot in Barcelona.

Guell Bus

  • Taking the Bus Güell is perhaps the best way to get to Park Güell.
  • It’s an easy-to-use shuttle service that starts outside the Alfons X metro station and takes you to Park Güell in just 15 minutes.
  • You can get on any L4 Metro train or take a bus to get to the Alfons X station.
  • After exploring Park Güell, you can board the same shuttle to return to Alfons X station.

Metro to Park Güell

  • Get on the Green Line (L3) of the Metro and get off at Lesseps Station or Vallcarca Station; Park Güell is between these two stations.

From Vallcarca station

From Vallcarca, also known as the Park Güell metro station, Park Güell is a 20-minute walk away. Most tourists prefer the Vallcarca stop because it is a downhill walk. Once down, the best route will be to take the Baixada de la Glòria escalators and then go to the entrance of the Passatge de Sant Josep de la Muntanya.

From Lesseps station

Lesseps metro station is lower than Park Güell, so we recommend it for the return trip. From Gaudí’s masterpiece, Lesseps station is also a 20-minute walk away. Barcelona metro lines operate seven days a week.

Bus to Park Güell

The D40 and H6 buses travel to Park Güell and you must get off at the Travessera de Dalt stop. A quick ten minute walk can take you to Park Güell.

 

 

Park Güell opening hours

  • During the peak months of May to August, Park Güell opens at 8 am and the last entry is at 8:30 pm.
  • During the mid-season months of April, September and October, it opens at 8 am, but entry is only allowed until 7:30 pm.
  • From November to March, with few tourists, Park Güell opens at 8.30 am and allows entry until 6.00 pm.

Park Güell price

  • You can enter Park Güell for free.
  • It is the only monumental area of ​​Park Güell, which makes up 5% of the park, with controlled access.
  • The monumental area has controlled access because most of the work of the architect Antonio Gaudí is in this part of the park, and it is what tourists pay to see.
