TOUR BESALÚ, AND THE COSTA BRAVA WITH CAMI DE RONDA AND MEDIEVAL VILLAGES

We depart from Barcelona to visit the village of Besalú.

Besalú is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain by National Geographic magazine, and of course, one of the most photogenic, especially the iconic Besalú Bridge.

We will walk across the Puente Viejo de Besalú, believed to have been built in the 11th century over a Roman bridge and later rebuilt in the 14th century. After being destroyed during the Civil War, it was reconstructed once again. The bridge consists of two angled sections, with a tower and a small arch at the center. We will visit the town center, full of medieval streets and facades that form part of its heritage. During the tour, we will explore ecclesiastical monuments in the town, such as the churches of Sant Pere, Santa María, and Sant Vicenç, which combine Romanesque and Gothic elements. In the Jewish quarter, we can also visit medieval baths used for Hebrew ritual ablutions.

After this medieval walk, we will head to the Costa Brava. We will reach one of the famous routes of the Cami de Ronda, an ancient path used by locals to protect themselves from pirate attacks. We will discover a 1.5 km path, dotted with small coves where crystal-clear waters are part of the stunning landscape. It will be time to have lunch at one of the terraces with sea views.

Another remarkable site is the Monumental area of the Faro de Sant Sebastià, where the ancient Iberian settlers established a settlement. Not far from this area is the Ullastret archaeological site, the most important Iberian settlement in ancient Hispania. More panoramic views of the Costa Brava await.

To end the day, we will visit the medieval village of Pals, another essential stop on our journey. In Pals, you can stroll through its narrow streets that will transport you to another era. We will visit the Torre de les Hores, with an impressive viewpoint offering panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Finally, we will close this adventure by returning to Barcelona.
